Politecnico di Milano Merit Scholarships 2026: Platinum, Gold & Silver (The Complete Guide)

Get a €10,000 stipend + fee waiver! Politecnico di Milano Merit Scholarships (Platinum, Gold, Silver) guide. 2nd Call Deadline: May 2026.

The Politecnico di Milano (PoliMi) is consistently ranked as the #1 technical university in Italy for Engineering, Architecture, and Design. But studying in Milan can be expensive—unless you win one of their elite Merit-Based Scholarships.

For the 2026/2027 intake, PoliMi has categorized its financial aid into three prestigious tiers: Platinum, Gold, and Silver. These are awarded automatically to the highest-ranking applicants in the admission process.

The Three Scholarship Tiers (Verified Values)

Unlike need-based aid, these awards are based strictly on your GPA and Academic Portfolio.

1. Platinum Scholarship (The Elite Tier)

This is the most prestigious award, given to the absolute top candidates.

  • Cash Stipend: €10,000 gross per year.
  • Tuition Waiver: 100% Full Tuition Fee Waiver.
  • Accommodation: You are guaranteed a spot in a PoliMi residence (paid from your stipend).
  • Quantity: Very limited (approx. 10-15 per year).

2. Gold Scholarship

  • Cash Stipend: €5,000 – €8,000 gross per year (Amount varies by campus: Milano usually €5k, Piacenza/Mantova campuses often higher to attract talent).
  • Tuition Waiver: 100% Full Tuition Fee Waiver.
  • Accommodation: Guaranteed spot in residence (paid from stipend).

3. Silver Scholarship

  • Cash Stipend: None.
  • Tuition Waiver: 100% Full Tuition Fee Waiver (Saves you approx. €3,900/year).
  • Note: This is purely a fee waiver. You must cover your own living costs or apply for DSU (see below).

Who Can Apply? (The "2nd Call" Window)

The application timeline depends heavily on your passport.

A. Non-EU Students Living Abroad

  • Status: The main call for you (First & Second Window) usually closes in January/March.
  • Did you miss it? If you have already applied for admission, you are automatically being evaluated for the scholarship. You do not need to do anything else.
  • Results: Scholarship outcomes for the first call are typically released in March/April.

B. EEA Students & Non-EU Residents in Italy

  • Status: OPEN.
  • Deadline: You can apply for admission (and thus the scholarship) until May/June 2026 (dates vary by School of Engineering/Architecture).
  • Strategy: This "2nd Call" (or Third Window) is your prime opportunity to secure a spot and funding.

How to Apply: The "Automatic" Process

  1. Apply for Admission: Submit your application for a Master of Science (Laurea Magistrale) on the PoliMi Online Services portal.
  2. Pay the Fee: You must pay the application fee (€50-€100) by the deadline.
  3. Automatic Evaluation: There is no separate application for the Merit Scholarship. The Admissions Committee will flag top candidates during the evaluation.
  4. Acceptance: If selected, you will receive an official "Scholarship Award Letter" in your dossier. You must accept it and pay the administrative fee (approx. €170) within usually 10 days to secure it.

Backup Plan: The DSU Scholarship (Income-Based)

If you do not get the Merit Scholarship, do not panic! You can apply for the DSU Scholarship in June/July 2026.

  • Value: Free Accommodation + Free Meals + €7,000 Cash.
  • Requirement: Low family income (ISEE Parificato < €26,000).
